Review of Sea Eagle, Beach Cottage, St.James

wonderful location
The bungalow was exactly as it appeared on the Trip Adviser video. A really ideal location in a comfortable Bajan home. I and a friend spent five weeks of complete relaxation on the wonderful verandah, sunbathing patio and the delightful shady tree seating on the beach directly below - a location to die for!. Manfred was a super host who responded immediately to our every demand, whether it be for a D.V.D.player or a simple paring knife. He is a delightful man. Although we were in the bungalow furthest from the road, we could still hear the noise of the traffic, particularly in the second bedroom. Also there was a problem with barking dogs but Manfred even managed to reduce that noise. Stacy was a willing and helpful housekeeper who would assist us whenever required and Icon, the gardener, general handyman and taxi driver was a true old Bajan gentleman. There were a couple of things which could be improved upon although it did not detract from our enjoyment of the place - the kitchen is rather tired but still very clean and adequate for its purpose and I would also advise visitors to be very security conscious and abide by the house rules. All in all we had a lovely holiday and visitors during our stay all commented on our wonderful beach side location and how did we manage to find it!.

Two week stay
Just as it states in the write up. Right next to beach. Very comfortable. Good air con. Perfect for a base for the island.

Review of Sea Eagle, Beach Cottage, St.James

A lovely beachside property on the acclaimed west coast
We rented this property in Fitts, St. James parish, for 4 weeks. The beach in front of the property is rocky but great for snorkelling, and swimming is possible approx. 200 metres to the left or the right of the property. A few steps lead down from the terrace directly onto the sand. The beach is quiet. The property is well equipped with all one needs for a comfortable stay. Manfred, the owner, and the housekeeper, Stacey, were very helpful and anything we needed was quickly provided. Wi-Fi connection is excellent, enabling me to run my business rather than deserting my customers for 4 weeks. Manfred also provided a printer for the duration. There were two burglaries to neighbouring properties during our stay but Sea Eagle is secure, provided that one ensures the security gate is doubly padlocked even when you are in the property and the entrance door as well as the verandah doors are locked if you go out. We also locked these doors when we went to bed at night. There is a safe for valuables. But do not let these precautions put you off. The locals are essentially very friendly and courteous, so one felt a part of the community rather than just a visitor. There are three restaurants within walking distance (take care on the road as the pavements are not continuous), Il Tempio (Italian), Cariba (modern Caribbean - our favourite) and the Cliff (expensive but fantastic location). We do not hesitate to recommend this property and will definitely return.

The cottage is in a lovely area, so peaceful and pretty and very comfortable.
We have just returned from two weeks at Hummingbird Cottage if you want a peaceful holiday with easy access to great beaches and local amenities this one is for you. The beaches are a short walk away past local houses and the local school.Everyone was very friendly and said hello as we passed. The beach at Alleynes Bay is the closest and has the local fish market and fresh fruit and vegetables for sale. If you continue past this beach you can access Reeds bay past the Church. We thought this bay was the best we saw , very few people ,safe bathing and natural shade. We visited the beach at Sandy Lane and far preferred Reeds. The cottage is readily accessible for Hole Town and Speightstown, we hired a car and both were a five minute drive. There are many buses that will take you there if you do not have a car. The cottage itself is like a home away from home, it has everything you need for self catering and we found it so comfortable we hardly went out in th evenings but bought fresh fish and local beer and watched the fireflies as the sun went down. In the morning the bird life is abundant and the Hummingbirds are so pretty. We would really recommend this rental.

SEA EAGLE in Fitts-Village was the second stop in Barbados. The spacious and nicely decorated bungalow has everything we needed to enjoy our stay for two weeks. The access to beach and sea was so fantastic. It was a clean and ideal location to relax and to have peace and quiet, but near enough to restaurants and supermarket. Manfred was extremly helpful and easy going. We will go back next year!
