Located in St. James, Hummingbird Cottage is a stone and wooden building built in a fenced garden just less than six hundred feet from the beach. It offers gracious living - Caribbean style. The traditionally inspired architecture features a spacious verandah in a local neighborhood near the Caribbean Sea. The interior layout is equally roomy with an kitchen, dining and living room. The two bedrooms have Air conditioning. LivingLivingHummingbird Cottage has been newly refurbished in 2014. It is a special place for quiet relaxation, read and enjoy the beauty of Barbados. The interior consists of spacious living/dining areas and bedrooms, all delightfully furnished. There are also facilities in place for high-speed internet suitable for those wishing to surf for pleasure. Private and securely positioned centrally within beautifully garden. Spent your dream holidays and you will never forget the beauty of the Barbados Island.

Getting around

Take a morning stroll along the beach, buy your lunch at the local fish market next to you, and then enjoy a rum or two at John Moores' Rum Shack. Hire a glass bottom boat from the beach to take you on a tour of the beautiful ocean. Swim alongside the turtles and the fish. Snorkel around the coral reefs, and then dry off by sunbathing in the hot Caribbean sun.

There are local buses at the bottom of the road and an abundance of taxi's to choose from. Alternatively, you can hire a car to explore the island.

Please report any damage/breakages immediately.
Smoking is permitted in some parts of the house: the patio and the garden of course. But not in the rooms.
Pets are not allowed.
My Guest shall feel at home in my property and enjoy all of its facilities, yet the guest is asked to respect the peaceful character of the place, to only use appliances for their intended use, and respect the tranquility of the neighborhood (i.e. no more loud music after 10 pm on the patio or in the garden)

Interaction with my guest

Interaction between me and guests is truly at the preference of the holiday maker themselves.

  • My staff and I are a phone call away. If there is anything you need, we can be reached 24 hours a day by phone or email.
  • For an additional charge we can also arrange to have a housekeeper clean and wash laundry. (We know how many towels get used).
  •  Groceries delivered directly to your holiday apartment - prior to you arriving. Simply tell us what you want, and we will shop for you.
  • Airport pick up and/or drop off can be arranged upon request. Tour guide, baby sitting and maid services can also be arranged at an additional cost.

We want you to feel right at home. However, we do have a few rules..

No Smoking inside the house, please.

Save Energy- Kindly turn off fans and air condition units when not in room.

When leaving the beach, please use the outdoor taps to rinse sand from feet and clothing before entering the house.

Any sand brought into the house must be swept out before your departure.

The Saint James Parish region

 The parish of Saint James is located in the western part of the country of Barbados. This is where the Caribbean sea is most calm as the island protects it from the Atlantic Ocean to the East.

 St. James was known as the "Gold Coast", but more recently is referred to as the "Platinum Coast", reflective of the parishes many glitzy beach-front mansions, pristine beaches, and luxury hotels including the world famous five Star Sandy Lane.

Beautiful home away from home with a tropical garden covered veranda and hammock

Thank you so much Manfred for allowing us into your tropical hideaway. We had the best holiday of our lives in your home. Manfred arranged for us to be collected from the airport by Icome his handy man, well worth the $US50. We were met by Stacy who showed us around and offered local information. The house is beautifully clean. The kitchen is well equipped, we cooked at home for most of our holiday bringing delicious fresh local fish home with us from the fish market at the bottom of the road. It was hard for us to tear ourselves away from the garden, plentiful seating areas always offered a sunny or shady spot. We stayed for 3 weeks and enjoyed being a part of the very friendly neighbourhood for a short time. local buses pass the bottom of the road every few minutes in both directions along the coast and we loved the lively energy and music aboard as we explored the island. The dawn chorus is a very noisy affair indeed. We were woken at about 5am every morning by the local cockerel, various fowl, local birds, monkeys on the roof, dogs barking at the monkeys on the roof and we loved it!!! Don't be irritated by being awoken but lie in your comfortable bed and embrace being in this vibrant place. We watched the hummingbirds feeding on a plant outside our bedroom window and usually after an hour all goes quiet and it is possible to drift back off to sleep. We would definitely recommend this gorgeous house and we will certainly be returning. Manfred has a second house in the same street so a larger party could rent both houses and be almost next door to each other. Be good to yourself and get this place booked now!
